Snow Removal at Rush Hour

8:20 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. This is when we crawled along in the streetcar.

40. This is the number of minutes my 504 King streetcar spent behind snow removal equipment between Niagra St. and Portland St.

3. This is the number of blocks between Niagra St. and Portland St.

100+. This is the number of people affected on my streetcar (a double) alone.

1. This is the one incredulous driver who also couldn’t believe we were stuck behind snow removal equipment.

3. This is the number of phone calls I’ve made so far to try to track down someone at the City of Toronto to ask about snow removal scheduling.

$67,000,000 . This is the number of dollars the City of Toronto budgeted for snow removal.

1. And this is me, just one voice wondering why the City of Toronto schedules snow removal on one of its busiest streets during rush hour.
